Meteors are most famous for being seen during night time, however, a meteor was recently spotted in broad daylight fly across the sky in United States.

A fireball meteor was spotted blasting in the skies of about ten US states a little before sunset, creating a bright straight line in the evening sky. Nearly 600 reports were received by the American Meteor Society (AMS) of witnessing a meteor turn into a fireball.

As per CNET, the fireball meteor reports came in from ten states including Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota and Missouri. The fireball was caught on cameras by both citizens and the security cameras.

Another undetected fireball asteroid collides with Earth

“The estimated 3D trajectory computed from the witness reports shows a shallow entry angle, one that could be associated with an Earth grazing fireball. But many witnesses reported a fragmentation - it could mean the meteoroid actually went through the Earth atmosphere,” wrote AMS.

The meteor turned into a fireball and burned up in the extraordinary way they usually do when colliding with Earth’s atmosphere. However, it is unlikely that much of the meteor hit the ground. Later, a chunk of the tiny meteorite it became was found by scientists in Botswana.
