The committee was briefed by Director General Narcotics Force Shakeel Haider about auction/disposal of confiscated vehicle and different stations during the year 2011, highlighting the number of vehicles, make/model, book value and auctioned amount etc.
He said it was decided by the MONC to withdraw the proposed amendments submitted to the Cabinet for its approval on 20th January, 2012.
He added most of the proposed amendments in the CNS Act relate to carrying synthetic and semi synthetic Drugs as narcotics Drugs.
The Standing Committee appreciated the decision of Ministry of Narcotics Control regarding the withdrawal of proposed amendments.
The Committee was informed by the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Narcotics Control that Pakistan has been declared as Poppy free Country.
The Standing Committee once again directed the Secretary, Ministry of Narcotics Control to prepare the positive amendments in the existing law after consulting from all relevant departments and submit to the Standing Committee for its discussion.
The Standing Committee has recommended to extent full cooperation to Laiq Muhammad Khan, MNA regarding his reservations about the work done by M/o Narcotics Control in Kala Dhaka and Kohistan. The Secretary MONC has given assurance for cooperation in this regard.
The Committee has shown its un-satisfaction on the results of the drive regarding to make the Lahore as Drug Free City and directed the Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control to submit their proposal before the next meeting of the Standing Committee.
The Committee has decided to hold the larger meeting in Lahore on January, 30 2012 with Chief Minister Punjab regarding the said matter.
The Standing Committee recommended creating new posts in ANF for strengthening and smooth working of the department.
The second agenda item deferred due to the unscheduled session of National Assembly and it was decided that the same will be discussed in the next meeting of the Committee.
The meeting was attended by Laiq Muhammad Khan, Sajid Hussain Turi, and Nawab Ali Wasar Naseer Bhutta, MNAs and Secretary Narcotics Control, and other officers of ANF and some other allied agencies.
