Got following policy of political engagement: PM

Talking to parliamentarians, who called on him at his Parliament House Chamber here, the Prime Minister said the government had been following the policy of political engagement with all democratic forces in the country.

He said in this regard, he had always welcomed any suggestion put forth by them.

The Prime Minister said that the process of consultation and dialogue should not be made hostage to a time-frame as it would adversely affect the sincere efforts for the betterment of the public at large.

He said that the government was open to all kinds of suggestions and would not allow vested interests to overcome the public interest.

Referring to the government's efforts for the improvement of the living standard of the people, the Prime Minister said that the finance team had been vigorously working on this agenda.

He said that the economic indicators had shown signs of improvement and the foreign reserves were at an all time high level and the exports had increased manifold. He said soon the benefits of the economic reforms would reach the general public.

Talking about the support extended by all the political parties the Prime Minister hoped that the same spirit would be exhibited in the coming days.

The parliamentarians informed the Prime Minister about the problems of their respective areas. Thy also apprised him about the progress made on the ongoing development projects in their constituencies.

They put forth various suggestions for improvement in the development schemes. The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to prepare a report about the issues and come up with viable solutions.

The parliamentarians thanked the Prime Minister for his personal interest in resolving the issues of their respective areas.

The parliamentarians included Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Ex-Federal Ministers Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, Dr. Farooq Sattar, and MNAs Haider Abbas Rizvi, Zafar Ali Shah, Zahid Iqbal, Shafqat Hayat, Roshan Ali Junejo and Ameer Ali Jamoot.
