A recording is creating division on the internet, sparking debate among the users online whether the voice they are hearing from a viral video is either saying 'Yanny' or 'Laurel'.

An audio has surfaced on the social media which has everyone skeptical of their hearing abilities. The internet has not seen such a debate or division in opinion since the 'blue and gold dress' few years ago. The recent audio just might be this year's blue or gold dress, as it has sparked a debate online, getting everyone into disagreements.

The shot clip that has a computer-generated voice seems to be saying one word and that one word is the cause of all the debate. Twitter is divided into two as one group say they hear 'Yanny' while the other vehemently debates that they hear 'Laurel'.

After much debate and confusion, it has been revealed that the difference in the hearing of the two names depends on the volume at which you are listening to the audio. If a person hears ‘Yanny’ that means he is listening to it at a low volume, according to The New York Times. Similarly, those listening to the clip at a high volume will hear ‘Laurel’.

Nevertheless, the debate continues on Twitter with everybody sharing what they have heard.
