KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 132,566 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,149 tonnes of import cargo and 45,417 tonnes of export cargo including 4,787 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 87,149 tonnes comprised of 36,156 tonnes of containerised cargo; and 50,993 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 45,417 tonnes comprised of 36,890 tonnes of containerised cargo; 415 tonnes of general cargo; 8,112 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,535 tonnes of rice; 1,777 tonnes of cement and 4,800 tonnes of loose bulk cement.

Three ships namely Lindavia, Valerie Schulte and Cathrina with two container ships and one cement carrier respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

Four vessels viz Caribbean Sea, UBC Cyprus, Sea Wave and Al-Salam-II with one container ship, two bulk cargo ships and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths.

Two ships namely Caribbean Sea and Hyundai Freedom with two container ships sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely UBC Cyprus and Al-Salam-II carrying one bulk cargo ship and one oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.

Three vessels viz President Folk, Wan Hai-602 and Id Tide carrying two container ships and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while six vessels viz Cap George, APL Brisbane, MT Karachi, Ashahda, Cape Endurance and Bunga Melati 5 carrying two container ships, two crude oil tankers, one naphtha ship and one palm oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 17,194 tonnes, comprising 16,418 tonnes of import cargo and 776 tonnes of export cargo was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 16,418 tonnes includes 9,629 tonnes of canola seeds and 6,789 tonnes of chemicals.

The total export cargo includes 776 tonnes of cement.

A chemical ship namely MV St. James Park is expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon.

A total number of three vessels MV Hiba Al-Noor-B, MT Pearl Bulker and MV St. James Park are currently occupying berths to load/offload canola seeds, cement and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours.

As many as eight ships namely STX Knight, SC Guanzhou, MT Quetta, Fair Spirit, SC Shantuo, Hartati, Sealand Washington and Al-Abdali with chemicals, furnace oil, edible oil and containers respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.

A total number of five vessels viz Sealand Washington, Al-Abdali, MT Quetta, Hartati and SC Guanzhou carrying containers, furnace oil, edible oil and chemicals are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
