Indonesian rubber output seen up 6 percent in 2012

Published Updated

Exports of rubber from Southeast Asia's largest economy will rise by 7 percent in 2012 to 2.79 million tonnes, Suharto Honggokusumo, executive director at the association, known as Gapkindo, told Reuters.

"Our natural rubber output in 2012 is estimated at 3.27 million tonnes, up from 3.088 million tonnes in 2011 because the 2006/2007 replanting program will be starting to produce rubber," Honggokusumo added.

Indonesia's natural rubber exports in the fourth quarter of last year, were seen falling on weaker demand from key consumers such as China, an industry official said in November.
