On his three-week tour to America, Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman met the CEO of Virgin Galactic Company to carry out talks for bringing the Hyperloop technology to the country.

The crown prince, along with other defense ministry officials from the country, met Richard Branson the CEO of Virgin in California and discussed potential partnerships with Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, they both decided to develop a high-speed Hyperloop transit system in Riyadh that would carry passengers to Jeddah in approximately 76 minutes, a journey that currently takes 10 hours by public transport and 95 minutes via direct flights, reported Business Insider.

India getting its first Hyperloop

In a statement from Virgin Hyperloop, Prince Mohammad said, “Hyperloop is the catalyst to enable all fourth generation technologies to flourish in the Kingdom while creating a vibrant society and thriving economy through visionary cities and high-tech clusters.”

Branson even claimed that this Hyperloop system will help positioning Saudi Arabia as a ‘gateway to three continents’.

The prince unveiled its initiative ‘Vision 2030 Hyperloop Pod’ that demonstrated the partnership between Saudi Arabia and Virgin as a part of Prince’s Vision 2030 goal for modernizing the transport systems in the country. The prince also further hopes to improve the country’s transport systems along with enhancing infrastructure internally and across the borders as well, with the help of global partners like Virgin.
