Though not many people are happy with Snapchat’s last re-design, Snapchat again released its new update that contains two new amazing features including group video calls.

In order to keep users hooked to the app, Snapchat released new update this week that included two new features, group video and voice calls and the ability to mention friends in stories.

Talking about the group video and voice calls, users can add up to 16 friends and video call with each of them simultaneously. If the 16 people were not enough, users can even add more people and conduct voice calls with up to 32 people. Voice and video calls were already there in the app, this feature allows user to group video and voice call.

In a turn of events, Snapchat copies Instagram’s feature

For using the feature, the user would have to create a group and select the video icon for starting a live video chat or select the phone icon for the voice call. When invited for call, the members will be notified and once joined; the user would be notified about the joining. If the user does not wish to use their camera, they can switch it off and go for voice call. Snapchat filters could also be used while conducting video calls, explained Tech Juice.

The second mentions feature will let the user tag friends to their snap story, a feature that is already present in rival site, Instagram. As per the company, this feature will excite the influencers/celebs on Snapchat since any brand or company can be tagged and can be used for promotion purposes.

For using this feature, the user would just have to type ‘@’ and type in the username of the person they wish to tag in their story. People can see the tagged person, can add them as a friend or watch their public stories. The tagged person too will be alerted when they have been tagged, reported Mashable.
