Google has a tradition of honoring renowned personalities and events of the world with its unique ‘Doodle’ logos and on the 53rd birthday of the Pakistani legendary pop star Nazia Hassan, Google is paying tribute to the late icon.

Google honored the late Pakistani celebrity along with this statement, “When young Pakistani girls in the 1980s closed their eyes and clutched a pretend mic in their hands, swaying and singing, a major inspiration was Nazia Hassan. Hassan, sometimes referred to as the 'Princess of Pop', was a sensation the likes of which hadn’t been seen in the region in years. Young and graceful, with long flowing hair, she charmed the country by belting out favorite songs ‘Disco Deewane’ and ‘Boom Boom’ alongside her brother Zohaib.”

After seeing this tribute, many of the fans of the Queen of Pop, not just from Pakistan but from everywhere in the world, thanked Google for its special homage. The singer died at a young age of just 35 in 2000 after suffering lung cancer.

Other celebrities who Google has paid tribute to in the past include names like Nusrat Fateh Ali khan, Abdul Sattar Edhi, Noor Jehan and many others.
