Addressing a function after inaugurating development projects in Qadirpur Waan, the Prime Minister said, "The constitution given by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto ensured unity among the people of Pakistan following the fall of Dakkah." Referring to the criticism of the people on the PPP, he said, "The party which made the constitution, release and restored judges, gave independence to media can not be a threat to Pakistan or any other institution." He said the people should be afraid from 'fasli batairey" in the politics and should not be afraid from those who made constitution and gave the country a nuclear power. The Prime Minister said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto can be murdered but his vision and thoughts will remain alive for ever and now these thoughts are with the people. Referring to the development projects being completed by the present government, he said, these projects are the right of the people and it will generate jobs and improve economic conditions in these areas. He said after the completion of these development projects, there will be prosperity in the region. He also announced that the college will be started immediately in the area. The Prime Minister said when he announced the projects, he did not know about bye-elections in the area and it was only to fulfil the promises made with the people. He said he even gave Rs 1.16 billion projects to former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi for the development in the area. The Prime Minister said he still remembers the struggle and the support from the people from this area in the past and he had long understanding with this constituency. He said many demands have been raised and assured that all these demands would be fulfilled. The Prime Minister said people asking why the PPP is interested to contest election from this constituency. He said he is Prime Minister, his brother is MNA and his son is MPA so his family did not need any thing. He said the constituency is trust of Benazir Bhutto and it is the ownership of the PPP therefore, the PPP decided to contest election from this constituency. Gilani said if his family will contest the election from this area, then the respect and honour of the voters of the area will be increased. He said Bhutto family can make any one prime minister and the family did not select any of his own family for the prime minister-ship but decided in his favour, a worker from Multan. The Prime Minister said through contesting the election, he wanted to enhance the self-respect of the people of the area and the people will have more trust on the voters of this area. He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave respect, honour and dignity to the people and gave right of vote to the people. He ordered to complete all the under-process development projects without delay. He promised to complete all the demands presented today in the meeting. The Prime Minister said every Union Council will have an IT centre being set up by the Ministry of Information and Technology to train the youth. He said if there could be revolution by changing the party, he could do so when he was in jail as he was offered to leave Benazir Bhutto and he will be made prime minister but he refused to accept such offers and remained committed to the PPP and its leadership as changing the party could not bring any revolution. Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik speaking on the occasion said committed politicians like Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani remained unchanged. He said despite pressure, when he was in jail, Prime Minister Gilani did not change his loyalties. The Minister said after adopting 3D policy, development, deterrence and dialogue, the law and order situation in the country has been improved. He said PPP being architecture of nuclear programme of the country would ensure its safety at all cost. The Prime Minister even welcomed those who were responsible for sending him behind the bar. Syed Musa Gilani, son of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani also addressed the meeting.
