Ban on riding motorbikes without silencers, use of firecrackers

An official said in a statement here on Saturday that the ban to this effect has been imposed on the directive of the Sindh Home Minister, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, for effective control of law and order situation. It was further stated that the permission for carrying of licensed weapons during the period would also remain suspended.

It said that on the eve of the new year with a view to ensure peace in the city, the Government of Sindh in exercise of the powers conferred under section 144 Cr. P.C. hereby imposes ban from sunset on December 31 to sunrise on January 1 in Karachi on riding of motorcycles without silences, use of firecrackers and suspended all letters issued by the Home Department to various persons allowing them to carry weapons in relaxation of the ban.

In pursuance of section 195(1(a) Cr. P.C. police officers up to the rank on ASI of concerned police stations are authorized to register complaints under section 188 PPC in writing for violation of section 144 Cr. P.C., it was further stated.
