PM opens Yusuf Raza Gilani Flyover

It is the sixth interchange built in the city under PM's package, which starts from Boman Ji Chowk and reaches the Old Shujabad Road after passing over some troubled traffic points of the city, including Aziz Hotel Chowk, Double Phatak and Kumhar Mandi Chowk.Prime Minister Gilani congratulated the people of area on the completion of flyover, which he said, would be linked to motorway through the expansion of Old Shujabad Road. He said he would not stay at the site for long so that the people did not face traffic problems and left for inaugurating PTV Multan Station.

The 1.6 kilometre long interchange was part of a Rs 3.58 billion Inner Ring Road project comprising six interchanges. Five of them, including Jinah Chowk, Chungi No 9, Chungi No 8, Pul Mauj Darya and Nishtar Chowk, have already been opened for traffic.

Chairman of the National Highway Authoprity Syed Mohammad Ali Gardezi gave a detailed briefing to the Prime Minister on the project.

Work on the Chowk Rasheedabad interchange will begin soon.

Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan, members of Punjab Assembly Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, Syed Nazim Hussain Shah and Malik Ahmad Hussain Dehar, PM's Media Coordinator Khawaja Rizwan Alam and former MNA Malik Liaquat Dogar were also present.

Arbab Alamgir Khan on the occasion said that projects worth Rs 50 billion were under execution in south Punjab, including Rs 15 billion schemes in Multan.

He said the Prime Minister led an unprecedented process of development across the country, particularly focusing on uplift of backward areas.
