He said, "If we compare the use of urea in November this year with that of the last year, it showed that 55 percent less urea was used in Punjab, 25 percent in Sindh, 48 percent in KP and 17 percent in Balochistan."

He said that 13 percent less DAP was used in Punjab, 41 percent in KP, 14 percent in Balochistan. He said if farmers kept on using less fertiliser, it would badly affect the growth of Rabi crops.

He was of the view that low use of fertiliser was witnessed due to hike in its price, artificial shortage and poor financial conditions of farmers.

He urged the government to take steps to reduce prices of fertilisers upto 50-60 percent to facilitate farmers and boost the production of crops.
