Addressing a meeting of the provincial council of the party here at Nishtar Hall, the former prime minister said democracy must be allowed to nurture in the country as it was badly affected during the dictatorial regimes in the past.
"We will prosper when there is democracy in the country" he said and advised the party workers to work for the promoting democratic norms.
He paid rich tribute to the sacrifices offered by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA in war against terror and said it would be remembered for a long time to come.
We lost over 35000 people and 60 billion dollars in war against militancy. The PML-N leader without naming PTI Chief Imran Khan criticized those trumpeting the slogan of change and said that we had already brought the change 20 years before when we detonated nuclear device in 1998 and became an atomic power.
He recalled that he was billions of dollars in return for not carrying nuclear tests but "I rejected all such offers and made the country first Islamic nuclear state". Today with blessings of Almighty Allah we are a responsible atomic nation.
Nawaz said he never bowed down before the dictator and instead preferred to live in exile for seven years.
He maintained that we all should work for the development of our country to make it a dignified nation.
He while congratulating Pir Sabir Shah over his election as provincial head of the party expressed the confidence that the PML-N would emerge further stronger under his leadership. He also thanked MNA Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Abbasi for supporting the candidature of Pir Sabir Shah for the post.
He advised that provincial cabinet to keep the workers united as they were the real asset of the party.
