HYDERABAD: President Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry, Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui, has said that unscheduled load shedding, prolonged shutdowns and delays in power restoration on various HESCO industrial feeders are causing serious difficulties for traders, industrialists and shopkeepers in Hyderabad. The power supply situation on SITE, Indus, Hosri and Fazal Gulzar feeders is particularly alarming.
He expressed these views during a meeting with HESCO Chief Faizullah Dahri at his office, where the Hyderabad Chamber delegation presented in detail the issues being faced regarding electricity supply.
Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui said that uninterrupted electricity supply to industrial areas of Hyderabad is essential for smooth business operations. Unscheduled load shedding and frequent shutdowns are adversely affecting industrial production, while delays in power restoration are causing financial losses to businesses. Power outages during evening hours are also disrupting commercial activities in markets and shops, which are among the most important business hours for traders.
He further emphasized that the issues affecting electricity supply to industrial and commercial establishments must be resolved on a priority basis, as losses to industries are unacceptable. HESCO should improve its power distribution system and eliminate unscheduled outages and unnecessarily prolonged shutdowns.
On the occasion, Senior Vice President Muhammad Fahad Mian, Vice President Irfan Arbiani, former President Saleemuddin Qureshi, Convener HESCO Sub-Committee Suhail Memon and Senior Vice Chairman Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade & Industry Amir Shahab also expressed their views. They stressed the need to improve the performance of the affected feeders, reduce the duration of power outages and ensure priority-based electricity supply to industrial and commercial areas.
HESCO Chief Faizullah Dahri listened to the delegation’s concerns and directed the relevant officials to resolve the electricity supply issues affecting SITE, Indus, Hosri and Fazal Gulzar feeders within one month. He assured the delegation that the concerned team would take effective measures to address these problems.
He stated that industries are HESCO’s valued customers and providing them with necessary facilities is among the department’s top priorities.
The HESCO Chief further announced that a follow-up meeting would be held on December 4 to review the measures taken and assess progress made during the one-month period. In case the issues remain unresolved within the stipulated timeframe, further decisions would be taken in light of the situation.
President Hyderabad Chamber Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui welcomed the directives issued by the HESCO Chief and expressed hope that the concerned officials would take practical steps within the given timeframe to alleviate the difficulties faced by the business and industrial community.
The meeting was also attended by senior members of the Hyderabad Chamber, Shahid Qaimkhani, Aslam Bawani and Sharif Punjani, as well as President Hyderabad Dal Mills Association Salahuddin Qureshi.
