HYDERABAD: A delegation of the Hyderabad Glass Bangle Manufacturers Association, led by its President Haji Saleem Khan, visited the Secretariat of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry (HCSTSI). The delegation also included General Secretary Sohail Babar Qureshi and other representatives.
During the meeting, Haji Saleem Khan stated that the glass bangles manufacturing industry was one of Hyderabad’s most important industries and that resolving gas load-shedding and low-pressure issues was essential for its survival. He explained that gas shortages were disrupting production, while LPG, an alternative fuel, was also unavailable at the prescribed official rate.
According to him, although the official LPG rate was reportedly Rs. 294 per kilogram, it was difficult to obtain even at around Rs. 560 per kilogram in the market. He requested the Chamber President to raise these issues effectively with the relevant authorities and assured him that the Association would support the Chamber’s position at every level.
On the occasion, HCSTSI President Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui said that the government continued to increase its tax collection targets every year, yet industries were not being provided with the basic facilities they needed. He stated that the livelihoods of more than 200,000 people were linked to Hyderabad’s glass bangles industry, and neglecting the challenges faced by this sector could jeopardize the economic future of a large number of families.
The Chamber President further said that gas load shedding, low pressure and the high cost of alternative fuel had placed the glass bangles industry under severe strain. The Chamber would work alongside the Association to raise these concerns with relevant government departments and forums. He expressed his commitment to making every possible effort to protect this important local industry and the livelihoods of the people associated with it.
