ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has appointed aviation industry veteran Adrian Hamilton-Manns as its new Chief Executive Officer, with a mandate to improve service standards and strengthen the national carrier’s position in the aviation industry.
Hamilton formally assumed charge of his office on Monday, bringing more than 30 years of experience in commercial aviation, including leadership roles as CEO of three airlines in Oman, Kazakhstan and Africa.
He is regarded as an expert in implementing reforms and restructuring operations in the aviation industry.
The PIA consortium and Board of Directors welcomed the new CEO and expressed confidence that his extensive international experience would help improve the airline’s operational efficiency and service quality.
The PIA chairman said the management expected Hamilton to utilise his expertise to enhance service standards and position the national carrier among leading international airlines.
Meanwhile, the PIA consortium and board also acknowledged the services of outgoing CEO Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Amir Hayat, who led the airline through a challenging period marked by operational and financial difficulties.
During his tenure, PIA achieved significant improvements in aviation safety standards, secured the lifting of restrictions on its operations to Europe and the United Kingdom, and undertook measures to prepare the airline for privatisation.
The board also appreciated Hayat’s leadership and contributions towards strengthening the airline’s operational and regulatory standing during a critical phase of its restructuring.
