Türkiye’s Arçelik invested Rs14bn to modernize Dawlance’s production facilities
KARACHI: Since acquiring Dawlance, Türkiye’s Arçelik has invested more than Rs14 billion in Pakistan, modernizing production facilities across Dawlance’s three plants and expanding its product portfolio with new manufacturing lines for airconditioners, water dispensers, automatic washing machines and LED TVs.
The investment underscores the company’s commitment to local manufacturing and developing products tailored to Pakistani consumers, with Dawlance now reaching customers through a nationwide network of around 2,000 dealers and more than 400customer-care touch points.
Under a USD 2.6 million Design Export Project, Dawlance designed four refrigerator models for Singer Bangladesh, a fellow Arçelik subsidiary. Arçelik has also set up a Global Research and Development Center at the National University of Science and Technology(NUST) in Islamabad, where Pakistani engineers develop software for home appliances across the group.
Dawlance is marking 10 years as part of Arçelik, the Turkish home appliances group that acquired the company in 2016. Over the decade, the partnership has centred on transferring technology and skills from Türkiye to Pakistan and on developing local engineering talent.
The partnership’s most lasting impact has been on people and skills. Dawlance engineers work closely with the group’s R&D teams in Türkiye, and the company now exports its design expertise as well as its products.
The same approach is deepening local manufacturing. In January 2026, Dawlance opened a condenser manufacturing facility where Pakistani engineers, working with engineering teamsfrom Türkiye, designed and validated a component that was previously fully imported; around 75 percent of its value is now produced locally. One of Dawlance’s Karachi factories also now meets 20 percent of its power needs through solar energy.
Commenting on the milestone, Umar Ahsan Khan, chief executive officer of Dawlance, said that 10 years ago, Arçelik placed its trust in Pakistan and in the people of Dawlance.
“That trust has changed how we work. Our engineers now design products for other markets, make components we once imported and work side by side with colleagues in Türkiye on thegroup’s global projects,” he said.
“The real measure of this partnership is the talent it has built in Pakistan, and the confidence that Pakistani engineering can compete at the highest international standards,” he added.
