Pakistan has reported its eighth polio case of 2026 from Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) said on Sunday.
With the latest case, the number of polio cases reported in the country this year has reached eight, including six from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two from Sindh.
The NEOC said a special sub-national polio vaccination campaign would begin on November 2 in 97 selected districts across the country and continue until November 8.
During the week-long campaign, approximately 24 million children under the age of five will be administered polio drops.
The NEOC urged parents to ensure that their children receive polio vaccines during every campaign and complete their routine immunisation schedules on time.
It also called on all segments of society to support efforts to eradicate the disease, stressing that although polio has no cure, it can be prevented through vaccination.
