ISLAMABAD: Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir is a ray of hope for the entire Muslim Ummah, said Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Alahmed, Acting Rector and President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

He stated this while delivering a Jumma prayer sermon at Faisal Mosque.

Faisal Mosque is a gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan and a symbol of brotherly relationships between the two countries. The IIUI is custodian of this grand monument as per the vision and spirit of the leadership of the two countries and the aims and objectives of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC).

He paid rich tribute to the CDF. He also prayed for the strength and success of Pakistan’s armed forces in every field. He said “the armed forces of Pakistan, under the leadership of the Field Martial, are the strength of the Muslim Ummah.” He said “the Muslim Ummah has never faced a fiercer enemy than now, and their unity, with Allah’s help, is their real strength.”

The Rector has brought special grants to the University through his efforts. Recently, he secured another Rs 144 million grant for the IIUI from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In the sermon, he warned that the Ummah suffers from big differences and wide divisions. Its enemies have dug their fangs into the body of the Ummah, he said. “Now we need unity of ranks more than ever before,” he said. He stressed that no power can help Muslims unless they arm themselves with faith and a common cause.

Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Alahmed asked the faithful to fear Allah and practice unity at home, in the street and at the workplace. He said the Holy Quran says that the Ummah is one and should worship Almighty Allah.
