LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that practical measures are being taken to promote agricultural development in the province under the farmer-friendly initiatives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
She said the announcement of the establishment of Kisan Bank fulfilled a longstanding demand of farmers. The Chief Minister had also responded to their longstanding demand by deciding to fix the wheat support price at Rs 4,500 per maund.
Azma Bokhari said representatives of farmers across Punjab had appreciated the initiatives taken by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for their welfare. She added that genuine efforts for agricultural development were now visible across the province. “For the first time in Punjab’s history, 50,000 tractors are being provided to farmers, while one million farmers are directly benefiting from the Kisan Card,” she said.
The Minister for Information and Culture said the Chief Minister had placed her trust in farmers, as reflected in the 100 per cent recovery rate under the Kisan Card scheme.
She said laptops and scholarships were being provided to young people, while farmers were being facilitated through tractors, super seeders and Kisan Cards.
Azma Bokhari said Punjab under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership was changing and progressing. Development projects and relief packages were no longer confined to official files or social media; their benefits were now visibly reaching people at the grassroots level.
