LAHORE: The Punjab Walled Cities and Heritage Areas Authority (PWCA) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shan Foods to promote cultural heritage, celebrate local traditions, and enhance heritage tourism through cultural events and activities at selected heritage sites in Lahore.
PWCA Director General Najmussaqib and Sammer Sultan, Co-Chairperson of Shan Foods, inked the MoU. The one-year partnership aims to create engaging cultural experiences at Lahore Fort, Shalamar Gardens, and the Walled City of Lahore, subject to mutual agreement and necessary approvals.
Speaking on this occasion, PWCA DG Najmussaqib stated that our heritage sites reflect the cultural identity and collective memory of our communities. “This partnership with Shan Foods will create opportunities to engage the public with our rich cultural heritage while promoting heritage tourism and ensuring the preservation of historic sites. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to celebrating Lahore’s cultural identity, encouraging public engagement, and strengthening heritage tourism.”
Under the MoU, the PWCA will facilitate agreed venues, provide heritage-related guidance, and coordinate arrangements, while Shan Foods will support event planning, management, logistics, and promotion. The collaboration may also include heritage walks, traditional food experiences, artisan demonstrations, and other cultural activities. Both organisations will coordinate event planning and implementation in accordance with applicable laws, safety requirements, and PWCA’s heritage conservation guidelines.
