LAHORE: foodpanda has highlighted the role of cloud kitchens in lowering entry barriers for food entrepreneurs, helping restaurant businesses expand into new markets and creating local employment opportunities.
The food delivery and quick-commerce platform hosted a delegation of journalists and media representatives at its cloud kitchens on Tuesday, showcasing operations ranging from order processing and real-time inventory management to food preparation, packaging and rider dispatch.
The visit also featured demonstrations of food safety measures, hygienic kitchen layouts, temperature control systems and rider pickup protocols designed to ensure efficient and consistent deliveries.
Moeen Qureshi, Head of Kitchen at foodpanda Pakistan, told the visiting journalists that cloud kitchens were becoming an important part of the country’s urban food landscape by empowering small businesses, creating livelihood opportunities for local chefs and improving consumer access to food. He said the company aimed to combine culinary innovation with operational efficiency to support an inclusive food ecosystem.
Cloud kitchens provide equipped facilities that enable established restaurant brands, emerging food businesses and home-based chefs to reach new neighbourhoods without making substantial investments in conventional dine-in outlets.
Through kitchen infrastructure, technology integration, delivery services and data-driven demand insights, the platform enables vendors to focus on food quality while expanding their customer base. The company also highlighted its compliance with local food authority guidelines, staff safety training and hygiene audits to address concerns about food safety and quality standards at delivery-only facilities.
