Petrol price hiked by Rs1.54, HSD’s by 2.16

Published Updated

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced increase in fuel prices for October 27, driven by rising international market trends and import costs. Petrol has been increased by Rs1.54, bringing the new price to Rs379.25 per litre (up from Rs 377.71). High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has gone up by Rs2.16, raising the retail price to Rs395.82 per litre (up from Rs393.66).

OGRA attributed the rate adjustments to international events and changes in Platts pricing, premiums, and incidentals. The average price for refined petrol rose to USD 118.41 per barrel from USD 117.52 on October 24, while HSD benchmark prices saw a slight upward trend to USD 110.58 per barrel.

Reflecting these global shifts, the ex-refinery price of petrol climbed to Rs268.49 per litre (previously Rs266.95), while the import cost of HSD increased to Rs288.27 per litre (previously Rs286.11).

According to a Petroleum Division notification, government levies and fixed profit margins for petrol and HSD remain unchanged. Both fuels carry a Petroleum Levy of Rs80 per litre, a Climate Support Levy of Rs5 per litre, and profit margins of Rs9.98 per litre for dealers and Rs7.87 per litre for oil marketing companies. The Inland Freight Equalisation Margin (IFEM) is sustained at Rs7.91 per litre for petrol, and Rs4.70 per litre for HSD.
