PAULO: Brazilian farmers had planted 40 percent of the projected area of their 2026/27 soybean crop as of last Thursday, agribusiness consultancy AgRural said on Monday, up from 26 percent a week earlier and above the 36 percent registered a year ago.
In southern Brazil and parts of Mato Grosso do Sul, it was possible for farmers to speed up fieldwork as rainfall eased. Meanwhile, better rainfall conditions supported planting in parts of Mato Grosso, Goias and the region of Maranhao, Tocantins, Piaui and Bahia, though irregular precipitation and high temperatures remain a concern in some areas.
Planting of Brazil’s 2026/27 first corn crop reached 58 percent of the estimated area in the center-south region, compared with 48 percent a week earlier and 55 percent a year ago.
