LAHORE: The Balochistan Economic and Investment Forum 2026 will be held in Lahore on October 21 to attract domestic and foreign investment, promote industrial growth and highlight the province’s untapped economic and commercial potential.

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Chairman Zaki Ijaz and Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade (BBoIT) Bilal Khan Kakar announced this on Monday at a joint press conference at the FPCCI regional office. They said the forum, being organised jointly by the FPCCI and BBoIT, would provide a platform to explore investment opportunities in key sectors of Balochistan, promote industrial development, encourage the productive utilisation of mineral resources and strengthen public-private sector collaboration.

They said senior officials from relevant government departments and institutions would participate in the forum and deliver detailed briefings on their respective sectors. The speakers would include Liaquat Kashani, Managing Director of the Lasbela Industrial Estates Development Authority; Abdul Kabir Zarkoon, Managing Director of Balochistan’s Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA); Noor-ul-Haq Baloch, Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority; Nighat Nooruddin of RME Fisheries; Akmal Ahmed Khan, Director of Dir Mines and Minerals; and Saleh Muhammad Baloch, Secretary of Livestock, Government of Balochistan.

Zaki Ijaz and Bilal Khan Kakar said Balochistan offered significant opportunities for investment and sustainable economic growth, supported by its abundant natural resources, substantial mineral reserves, extensive coastline and strategically important geographical location.

They observed that the effective development and utilisation of these resources could strengthen the provincial economy, broaden Pakistan’s export base, increase industrial output, generate employment opportunities and promote regional trade.

Highlighting the strategic importance of Gwadar Port, they said it had considerable potential to emerge as a major hub for international trade, transit and logistics. The development of supporting infrastructure, improved connectivity and increased commercial activity could help facilitate regional trade, attract domestic and foreign investment, and accelerate economic development in Balochistan and across Pakistan, they added.
