Security forces killed eight terrorists in three intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Quetta, Nushki and Khuzdar districts on October 17, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said the operations targeted terrorists belonging to what it described as the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan.
In Quetta’s Panjpai area, security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to establish a roadblock to disrupt local traffic, killing five terrorists, according to the ISPR.
In a separate operation in Nushki district, security forces raided a terrorist hideout and killed two terrorists following an intense exchange of fire. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered, the statement said.
In Khuzdar district, security forces engaged a terrorist hideout in an intelligence-based operation, killing one terrorist and recovering 490 kilogrammes of explosives, it added.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations were under way to eliminate any other terrorists present in the areas.
It added that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue counterterrorism operations under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
President, PM commend security forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hailed security forces for successful counterterrorism operations in Balochistan.
“Conspiracies of the terrorists’ foreign patrons and their local facilitators will be foiled,” President Zardari declared.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country.
