KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi has urged the business community, particularly the Memon community, to invest in the country with a focus on Karachi and expand welfare initiatives in education, healthcare and employment generation.

Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the Upleta Memon Association, the Governor congratulated the new leadership and called for integrity, commitment and continuity in serving the community.

He praised the association for carrying forward the welfare legacy of its elders and recalled the Memon community’s contributions to the Pakistan Movement, saying their sacrifices should be honoured by continuing their work for national development.

Hashmi said business growth and national economic progress were closely linked. Investment in Karachi would help create opportunities and strengthen the economy.

He urged business organisations to complement commercial activities with initiatives in education, healthcare and vocational training.

Emphasising the role of young people, he encouraged them to embrace modern technology, artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship.

He said the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme offered opportunities to develop skills, pursue business ventures and contribute to economic growth.

The Governor also welcomed youth participation in politics and urged young people to take an active interest in national affairs.

Hashmi acknowledged the contributions of the association’s patron Haji Masood Parekh and expressed confidence that the new leadership would strengthen its welfare and community-service initiatives.
