KARACHI: The Sindh government expects the first batch of new buses to arrive in Karachi in November 2026 as part of efforts to modernise public transport and promote environment-friendly mobility.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon - holding portfolios of Information, Transport and Mass Transit - held meetings with executives of Chinese bus manufacturers Yutong and Higer in Shanghai to discuss the introduction of electric buses and expedite the delivery of double-decker buses for Karachi, says an official statement here on Saturday.

During a meeting with Yutong Chief Executive Officer Robin Shen, the company offered support for introducing electric buses in Sindh. In a separate meeting, Higer Vice President Liu Zheng assured Memon that the first batch of buses would be delivered in November 2026.

The meetings also explored cooperation on green transport technology and measures to improve public transport efficiency and quality across the province.

Memon said the provincial government was pursuing several initiatives to upgrade transport services, including making Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines operational and providing modern, reliable and affordable travel facilities.
