ISLAMABAD: More than 1,000 runners, including women and children, participated in a five-kilometre race at the Pakistan Sports Complex to raise awareness about obesity and promote healthy lifestyles.

Organised by Islamabad Run with Us (IRU), the event titled “Slim Possible” aimed to encourage physical fitness, regular exercise and preventive measures against obesity.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from families, highlighting growing awareness about the importance of adopting healthy habits from an early age.

Participants appreciated the initiative, stressing the need for more community fitness activities to promote a healthier society.

IRU founder Qasim Naz urged citizens to dedicate at least 40 minutes daily to physical activity, emphasising that fitness is not merely a hobby but an investment in long-term health.

The event also marked the beginning of Islamabad’s running season, with more races and marathons expected through March and April.
