ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday rejected a request by the lawyers of human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari and her husband advocate Hadi Ali Chattha, to adjourn the hearing of a case pertaining to allegations of violating a security protocol and assaulting police personnel until next week.
Duty ATC Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain heard the case in the absence of ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, who was on leave. During the hearing, the couple was produced before the court through a video link by the jail authorities in connection with a case registered at the Secretariat police station.
The case was registered against the couple on October 29, 2023, after they allegedly removed road barriers during the England cricket team’s visit.
During the hearing, defence counsel requested the court to fix the next hearing for any date during the following week. However, the court rejected the request and adjourned the hearing until Saturday (today).
