KARACHI: Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), on Friday inaugurated Solar Pakistan 2026 at the Karachi Expo Centre, calling for greater adoption of alternative energy to reduce costs and strengthen the country’s energy security.
The three-day exhibition, organised by Fakt Exhibitions (Pvt) Ltd., will continue until October 11 and features more than 350 companies from 15 countries showcasing solar technologies, energy storage solutions and smart grid systems.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Magoon said solar energy was already helping households, farmers and small businesses lower their energy costs while supporting industrial activity.
He stressed the need for greater cooperation among the private sector, academia, technology providers and policymakers to expand the use of renewable energy across Sindh and other parts of the country.
Fakt Exhibitions Chief Executive Saleem Khan Tanoli said Pakistan was at a critical stage in its energy transition, with solar power offering opportunities to develop a more affordable and sustainable energy system.
He said Sindh had considerable potential for renewable energy development because of its abundant sunshine, coastline and industrial base, adding that Karachi was well placed to connect businesses, government representatives and technology providers.
Solar Pakistan 2026 comes as the country seeks to diversify its energy mix and improve energy security.
The exhibition highlights opportunities for expanding solar power adoption and developing solutions to meet the energy needs of households, agriculture and industry.
