KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has said that the Sindh government is going to host an investment conference in Shanghai on October15 for which a delegation is leaving for China under the leadership of the chief minister of Sindh.

During this visit, efforts would be made to promote B2B and G2G investment.

He said that promoting investment in Pakistan with the cooperation of China would create new avenues for the youth in the shape of employment opportunities.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, he said that the Sindh government would hold the third event of Sindh Vision in Sukkur at the end of November after holding the first two such events in Karachi and Islamabad.

The minister said that people belonging to different walks of life would be invited to the event.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Thar Coal had been proving to be a game changer for Pakistan, and it had an important role in country’s electricity generation.

The minister claimed that 1,100 new schools were to be established in Sindh in one year’s time.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that they were answerable to the people and not to any individual or a media channel or the social media.

He said it was regrettable that the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had targeted the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party. He said that so far they had not responded to any statement of the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, the way he had targeted the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party was surprising.

He clarified that the Pakistan Peoples Party would not have any kind of an alliance with the PTI in the elections.

Talking about the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the biggest problem of the province at present was terrorism.

Five out of seven divisions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were in the grip of terrorism.

The Sindh senior minister said that the situation of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was a proof of the “failure” of the provincial government

He said that during Imran Khan’s tenure, a soft approach had been adopted towards the Taliban.

Those who had talked about opening an office of the Taliban would have to answer for the situation today, he said.

He said that the PTI would have to answer for the politics of supporting the Taliban and “making peace with the terrorists”. PTI holds public meetings, takes out processions and stage sit-ins, but no serious position against terrorism was visible. “Where PTI has a government, why are effective measures not being taken against terrorism?” he asked.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Pakistan Peoples Party wanted the PTI to get some political space, and “we want serious discussions with the PTI on political matters”.

While answering questions, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that in the Islamabad talks, the draft of the agreement had almost been prepared. However, the situation suddenly changed.

He said that such steps were taken by the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to save his seat before his leader. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been paying the price for decisions taken to please the political leadership.

In response to another question, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that peace was also established in Karachi, and the police and Rangers together took effective action against terrorists.

The personnel of our forces had made sacrifices in the action against terrorism. The lives of our personnel should not be put at risk in the name of political protest. The personnel of the Pakistan Army, police and FC were making sacrifices in the defence of the country, while in the war against terrorism, the people were also being affected along with our forces.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said that there was backwardness in Thar, but this did not mean that a child from Thar could not secure a position.

The youth from Thar who had passed MDCAT could have their test conducted again by any impartial institution, and the truth would come out.
