KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Home and Law Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar visited the under-construction Sindh Forensic Science Laboratory in Deh Joreji, Bin Qasim town District Malir. The facility is being developed on 30 acres of land.
The Home Minister was briefed on the project’s progress, design and planned facilities. Officials informed him that approximately 85 percent of the construction work had been completed, with the building’s completion and handover targeted in 2026-27.
The project includes a main laboratory building, an evidence collection block and a reception block, along with allied infrastructure. The planned facilities have a total covered area of approximately 393,145 square feet.
The laboratory will have 14 forensic disciplines, including digital forensics and forensic photography, pathology, trace chemistry, firearms and tool marks, toxicology, computer forensics, questioned documents, DNA and serology, latent fingerprints, audiovisual analysis, narcotics, polygraph, crime and death scene investigation, and explosives analysis.
Advocate General Sindh Jawad Dero, Inspector General of Police Sindh Javed Alam Odho, Additional IG Karachi, Additional IG CTD, DIG Crime Branch, DIG East and SSP Malir were also present during the visit.
