ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has confirmed that its military personnel are currently deployed in Saudi Arabia across multiple capabilities and domains, as Islamabad reaffirmed its commitment to the collective defence mechanism established with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye under the trilateral “Mecca Alliance.”

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, speaking in an interview with an international news outlet, said Pakistani forces were present in Saudi Arabia under the broader defence cooperation framework between the three countries.

He noted that Pakistani military personnel have maintained a presence in Saudi Arabia for decades, reflecting longstanding diplomatic, political and defence ties between Islamabad and Riyadh.

The DG ISPR, however, did not disclose the number of Pakistani troops currently deployed, their specialised capabilities or whether additional forces could be sent to the Kingdom, saying operational details remained classified.

He also declined to discuss possible operational roles concerning the Houthis in neighbouring Yemen.

Reaffirming the collective security principle underpinning the trilateral defence arrangement, the military spokesperson said an attack against one member would be treated as an attack against all.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the trilateral defence framework two months ago, establishing a mechanism aimed at strengthening collective security, military coordination and deterrence among the three countries.
