Security arrangements during tri-nation cricket series reviewed
LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Tuesday directed police to ensure foolproof security arrangements during the tri-nation cricket series between Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka, saying players, officials and spectators would be provided comprehensive security.
He issued the directions while presiding over a meeting to review the performance of Model Town and Cantt divisions. He directed all relevant officers and personnel to perform their duties diligently to ensure the safety and security of all those associated with the series.
The CCPO ordered a zero-tolerance policy towards kite flying, directing police to ensure strict enforcement of the ban. He warned that the SHO concerned would be held responsible for any violation in his jurisdiction. CCPO also directed police to intensify the crackdown on elements involved in usury, saying those exploiting citizens financially would be dealt with firmly and indiscriminate action should be taken against them.
He called for a comprehensive strategy to prevent incidents of theft and burglary, directing police to intensify action against criminal elements and make field policing more effective to curb crime.
The CCPO also directed officers to ensure that citizens visiting police office were treated with dignity and respect. He said timely resolution of public complaints and provision of relief to citizens was among the police’s fundamental responsibilities and directed officers and personnel to deal with complainants in a courteous and respectful manner.
DIG Investigation Zeeshan Raza, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, SSP Investigation Muhammad Naveed, SSP Operations Abdullah Ahmad, SPs, ASPs, circle officers, SHOs and investigation in-charges of Model Town and Cantt divisions attended the meeting.
