ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday contacted Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Deputy Amir Liaquat Baloch on the special directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to convey the premier’s message to JI Amir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman.
The minister conveyed the prime minister’s message regarding the issues raised by the Jamaat-e-Islami.
Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif had contacted the Jamaat-e-Islami Amir and requested him to withdraw the protest call. Following the conversation, the Jamaat-e-Islami had postponed its protest.
Ahsan Iqbal said the meeting agreed upon during the prime minister’s conversation with the JI Amir would be held soon by mutual agreement.
“Providing relief to the people is among the government’s priorities. We will sit together and discuss the matter further,” Iqbal said.
He added that the government would sit with Jamaat-e-Islami representatives to discuss further measures aimed at providing relief to the public.
