RAWALPINDI: Security forces have intensified operations against terrorist elements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, killing 18 terrorists in separate actions.
The operations targeted terrorist hideouts and movement in North Waziristan and Mastung.
The latest actions reflect the security forces’ continued efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent attacks across the country.
Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
During the operation, security forces targeted terrorist hideouts in North Waziristan and surrounding areas, killing 13 terrorists.
Security forces are continuing to closely monitor terrorist movements and are taking decisive action against their presence. The forces have reiterated their commitment to completely eradicate terrorism and establish lasting peace.
Five terrorists killed in Mastung:
Security forces also conducted a successful operation in Mastung, Balochistan, against terrorist elements under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3. The operation resulted in the killing of five terrorists.
A significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the militants killed during the operation, the sources said.
Search and clearance activities are continuing in the affected areas to locate any remaining militants. Security forces said operations would continue until the threat of militancy in the areas is eliminated.
Meanwhile, terrorists belonging to Fitna-al-Khawarij attacked on Shadi Pur Police Post in Kohat which was thwarted and police launched robust counter-attack.
Kohat police personnel displayed courage and bravery, launching a strong counter-attack and repelling the assault.
The police personnel stood their ground against the terrorists’ heavy gunfire and delivered an effective response.
The police’s counter-action inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists.
However, four police personnel were injured in the exchange of fire; they have been immediately shifted to the hospital, and their condition is reported to be out of danger.
Following the failed attack, a search and strike operation is underway to pursue the terrorists, while security measures have been further tightened.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi have paid tribute to the security forces for their successful operations against terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The president, in a statement, lauded the bravery and professional competence of the security forces for eliminating 13 Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, and successfully neutralising another five terrorists of Fitna al-Hindostan during an operation in Mastung.
He said the effective and decisive operations by the security forces against terrorists reflected the nation’s resolve and a firm commitment to eradicating terrorist elements. He reiterated the resolve that the conspiracies of the foreign masters of terrorists and their local facilitators would be thwarted.
In a separate statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also commended the professional capabilities of the officers and personnel of the security forces for the terrorists of Fitna al-Khawarij during a successful operation in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The prime minister said the security forces effectively targeted the hideouts of Fitna al-Khawarij in North Waziristan and its surrounding areas.
“Operations against Fitna al-Khawarij will continue until the complete elimination of terrorism and the establishment of lasting peace in the country,” he said adding that effective operations against terrorism under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative reflected the state’s unwavering resolve to completely eliminate terrorism.
“We will not allow terrorists who seek to undermine the peace and security of our country to succeed in their nefarious designs,” the prime minister said.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the security forces for their successful operations against terrorists in Mastung and North Waziristan.
Naqvi lauded the professional competence of the security forces in eliminating 18 Indian-sponsored terrorists and paid tribute to the personnel who carried out the operations.
“I am proud of the brave sons of the security forces who thwarted the nefarious designs of the terrorists,” Naqvi remarked.
