Nehal greets UBL-UATC partnership to expand farm mechanisation
KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has welcomed a partnership between United Bank Limited (UBL) and Universal Agri Tractor Company (UATC) as greater access to agricultural financing and modern machinery which can boost farm productivity and strengthen Pakistan’s rural economy.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Hashmi said agriculture remained the backbone of the national economy and that strengthening farmers was essential for economic stability, food security and sustainable growth.
He said the collaboration between UBL and UATC was an important step towards improving farmers’ access to modern agricultural machinery and financing.
“Stronger farmers mean a stronger economy,” the Governor said, stressing the need to make modern agricultural technology and affordable financing accessible to a larger number of farmers.
Hashmi said farm mechanisation could increase productivity, reduce production costs and enable timely sowing and harvesting. Combining UBL’s agricultural financing expertise with UATC’s tractor-manufacturing capabilities could benefit farmers and support the rural economy.
He called for greater cooperation between financial institutions and the industrial sector to promote modern technology, increase agricultural output and improve farmers’ incomes.
During the event, the Governor unveiled UATC’s electric vehicle by cutting a ribbon and inspected the company’s tractor and EV. He also test-drove both vehicles.
