KARACHI: The Towel Manufacturers’ Association of Pakistan (TMA) held its prestigious Biennial Function 2024–26 on Sunday, 4th October 2026, at Governor House Sindh, Karachi. The function was graciously hosted by the Honourable Governor of Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, who expressed his support for the towel industry and emphasized the importance of strengthening Pakistan’s export-oriented manufacturing sector.

The distinguished gathering brought together leading exporters and manufacturers of the towel and home textile sector, prominent business leaders, representatives of major trade and industry associations, senior Government officials, diplomats, Consuls General and other key stakeholders associated with Pakistan’s export-oriented economy.

Addressing the gathering, the governor encouraged and assured his support to the towel industry, recognizing its significant contribution to Pakistan’s exports, employment generation, industrial activity and valuable foreign exchange earnings. He appreciated the industry’s role in strengthening Pakistan’s position in international markets and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the government and the business community to promote exports and economic growth.

The event provided an important platform for interaction, networking and institutional engagement between the business community and the government, with discussions focusing on strengthening Pakistan’s export competitiveness, promoting value-added textile exports, facilitating industry and creating a more supportive business environment.

Established in the 1970s, the TMA is one of Pakistan’s longstanding export-oriented trade associations and serves as the sole representative body of the country’s towel industry. The Association represents more than 200 member companies nationwide, comprising a 100 percent export-oriented sector engaged in the manufacture and export of towels and other home textile products to international markets.

The towel industry makes a significant contribution to Pakistan’s economy, generating approximately USD 2.2 billion annually in valuable foreign exchange earnings. The sector plays an important role in exports, employment generation, industrial activity and economic growth, while maintaining a strong presence in international markets.

The TMA continues to advocate policies and measures aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the towel and home textile sector, facilitating exporters, improving the business environment and strengthening Pakistan’s position in global markets.

The Biennial Function also provided an opportunity to recognize the achievements and contributions of distinguished members and personalities associated with the towel industry and to acknowledge their valuable services towards the development of Pakistan’s export sector and business community.

The Association expressed its sincere appreciation to the Honourable Governor of Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, for graciously hosting the TMA Biennial Function at Governor House Sindh and for his encouragement and support for the towel industry and the wider business community.

The successful event reaffirmed the importance of public-private sector collaboration and strengthened the resolve of TMA and its members to work collectively with the government for greater exports, industrial growth, investment, employment generation and sustainable economic development.
