KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi has called on teachers to combine academic education with character-building as their guidance plays a vital role in shaping responsible citizens and the country’s future.
Addressing a World Teachers’ Day ceremony organised by Z Education Society and Z Group of Companies, Hashmi further said teachers were not merely responsible for imparting academic knowledge but for instilling ethics, responsibility, social values and a passion for lifelong learning.
“Students should not be limited to merely passing examinations. They must be prepared to become responsible and upright citizens,” he asserted.
The Governor said education held a central place in Islam, noting that the first revelation of the Holy Quran began with the command “Iqra” (Read). He described teaching as a noble profession carrying a significant social responsibility.
