ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Division on Friday announced increase in fuel prices applicable during next three days i.e. October 3-5.
According to an official notification, the ex-depot price of petrol has been increased by Rs2.10 per litre, moving from Rs390.66 to Rs392.76. Similarly, the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) saw a nominal increase of 30 paise per litre, taking its price from Rs399.34 to Rs399.64.
Beyond the base rate increase, the primary contributor to the price hike was the adjustment of the Inland Freight Equalisation Margin (IFEM)—rising from Rs7.91 to Rs8.02 per litre for petrol, and from Rs4.19 to Rs4.75 per litre for HSD.
Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) states that the change in price is necessitated by global events including changes in Platts rates, premiums, incidentals etc.
During last seven days, the average petrol price has been increased to USD 130.17 per bbl (compared to USD 129.01 per bbl on October 2), while HSD decreased to USD 109.95 per barrel from USD 110.68 per bbl.
The levies and profit margins remain largely steady across both products. The change is recorded in import cost of both petroleum products. The import cost of petrol has been increased to Rs281.89 per litre from Rs279.90 per litre. However, the cost of HSD price has gone down to Rs292.04 per litre from Rs292.34 per litre.
The government levies and fixed profit margins for petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) remain unchanged. Both fuels carry a Petroleum Levy of Rs80 per litre, a Climate Support Levy of Rs5 per litre, and profit margins of Rs9.98 per litre for dealers and Rs7.87 per litre for oil marketing companies.
