ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court on Friday rejected the post-arrest bail of former office-bearers and other individuals nominated as accused in the Islamabad Cooperative Housing Society (ICHS) corruption case.

The AC Judge Rakhshanda Shaheen dismissed bail applications of accused, including former ICHS General Secretary Mehdi Khan Shakir, former Treasurer Malik Muhammad Nawaz, Ghulam Jillani, Muneer Akhtar, Ali Mehmood and others in a corruption reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in connection with alleged fake files, illegal allotments and financial irregularities worth billions of rupees.

The NAB prosecutor, while objecting to post-arrest bail applications, requested the court to reject the bail applications. There are allegations of defrauding members of the public and misappropriating funds, he said.

The accused failed to hand over possession of plots to victims and sold fake and duplicate property files.

The NAB officials told the court that 110 complaints have been registered against the accused in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. According to NAB, the accused were arrested on May 6, 2026.

The NAB prosecutor also told the court that the accused had been issued 10,875 files, including duplicate and fake files, while approximately 800 duplicate files had also been discovered in his name.

The prosecution further alleged that approximately Rs 1.5 billion linked to accused Muneer Akhtar, Ghulam Jillani and Ali Mehmood remained under scrutiny and that payments were allegedly routed through private accounts without proper banking records.
