KCCI, FoP-USA sign MoU

Published Updated

KARACHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Friends of Pakistan (FoP) USA / Pakistan Trade Advisory have officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a comprehensive framework for cooperation aimed at accelerating trade, entrepreneurship, and economic collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.

The agreement was executed at the KCCI premises by President KCCI Muhammad Rehan Hanif and President Friends of Pakistan USA Jamal Khawaja in the presence of witnesses Junaid Esmail Makda (Former President KCCI and Chairman of the Special Committee to Implement MoUs) and Farrukh Sheikh (Vice President, Pakistan Trade Advisory, FOP USA).

Highlighting some salient features of the MoU, President KCCI Rehan Hanif said that the MoU represents an important strategic step towards strengthening Pakistan-US trade and investment relations and creating new opportunities for the business communities of both countries.

He stated that under this three-year strategic framework, KCCI and Friends of Pakistan USA would work closely to facilitate bilateral trade and investment by connecting Pakistani enterprises with US-based markets, investors and potential joint-venture partners.

The initiative would also promote greater B2B connectivity through the organization of high-level trade delegations, business forums, exhibitions and focused networking sessions, providing businesses with meaningful opportunities to establish direct commercial linkages.

Rehan Hanif highlighted that particular emphasis would be placed on high-potential sectors including Information Technology, Textiles, Agriculture, Manufacturing and Startups, where Pakistan possesses considerable capacity and where stronger engagement with the US market could generate significant export, investment and partnership opportunities.

He further noted that the MoU would facilitate the exchange of market intelligence and critical information relating to tariffs, regulatory requirements, compliance procedures and market-access conditions. This would be particularly valuable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to better understand the U.S. market and make informed decisions while exploring international business opportunities.

“The three-year agreement provides a structured and sustainable platform for the private sectors of Pakistan and the United States to move beyond traditional business contacts towards meaningful trade, investment and joint-venture partnerships.

KCCI is committed to utilizing this framework to create tangible opportunities for Pakistani businesses, particularly SMEs, to expand their international footprint and become more competitive in global markets,” he added.

President KCCI expressed confidence that the partnership would contribute to deeper commercial engagement between the two countries and help unlock new avenues for trade, investment, technology collaboration and private-sector-led economic growth.
