KARACHI: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) Director General Zain-ul-Abideen Ansari has called for collective efforts to strengthen institutional systems, improve efficiency and contribute to the development of Karachi.
?Addressing KDA officers and employees at the Civic Centre, KDA headquarters, Ansari acknowledged the contribution of employees to the city’s development in planning, housing, land management, infrastructure and other sectors.
?He said KDA faced a number of challenges but these could be addressed through teamwork, practical measures and improved working methods.
?“Change does not come through words alone; it is achieved through practical measures, improved working methods and better performance,” Ansari asserted.
?He urged employees to take ownership of their responsibilities and perform their duties with commitment.
?He stressed the importance of punctuality, cleanliness, discipline and a positive working environment. Every employee had a role in improving the institution and preserving its dignity.
Referring to the 80/20 principle, the KDA chief said addressing a relatively small number of critical issues could generate a significant impact on overall institutional performance.
?“Change is a continuous process in the world, and institutions must also evolve accordingly,” he said. “If we continue to strengthen KDA, improve its systems and work consistently, the institution will continue to progress.”
?Ansari said the authority’s focus should be on improving systems and procedures and achieving measurable results rather than merely identifying problems or focusing on individuals.
?“We need to focus on systems, procedures and results rather than individuals,” he said.
?He said the officers and employees should work as a unified team to improve KDA’s performance and contribute to the development of Karachi and the country.
