Published Updated

Sazgar Engineering Works Limited is expected to launch its new Cannon Alpha vehicle in Pakistan in the coming months, with the company planning to introduce the model at a competitive price

The management said this during a corporate briefing attended by Topline Securities.

“The launch of Cannon Alpha is expected in the coming months, with management indicating it to be launched at a competitive price,” Topline said in its report released on Saturday.

The company also showcased a broader lineup of new energy vehicles (NEVs) at the Pakistan Auto Show held last week, including Tank 300 and Jolion Max, the management said.

Sazgar management said future product launches would increasingly focus on plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), amid expectations that the government will support the segment through the upcoming auto policy.

“The company is currently absorbing the increase in GST, as management expects a favourable auto policy to be announced soon, potentially with lower GST. Management noted that being customer-centric, Sazgar does not want to hurt customers purchasing vehicles today with the higher GST,” said Topline Securities.

The company currently operates 32 dealerships, the largest network among new entrants in Pakistan, and expects another five to six dealerships to become operational soon, according to management.

Sazgar Engineering Works Limited was incorporated in Pakistan as a private limited company in 1991 and became a public limited company in 1994. The company’s primary business is the manufacturing and sale of automobiles, automotive parts and accessories, and household electronic appliances[6]. Its manufacturing plants are situated in Lahore.

Sazgar’s product portfolio includes auto rickshaws, tractor wheel rims, and home appliances. More recently, the company expanded significantly by entering the four-wheeler segment, launching SUVs.

In 2022, the company introduced a four-wheeler under the “BAIC” brand.

By 2023, it had started production of SUV vehicles and introduced hybrid electric vehicles in the local market under the “HAVAL” brand.

The company launched its first locally-assembled hybrid electric vehicle.

SAZEW successfully launched its CKD Plug-In-Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) HAVAL H6 1.5L on August 16, 2025.
