Pakistan Navy ships HUNAIN and YARMOOK seized more than 2,800 kilogrammes of narcotics, estimated to be worth around $750 million, during a joint counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The ships, while on routine patrol, intercepted a suspicious boat and recovered the narcotics from concealed compartments during a boarding operation, ISPR said.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf commended the officers and crew for their professionalism and vigilance, reaffirming the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maritime security and combating illicit trafficking at sea.

President Asif Ali Zardari also praised the Pakistan Navy personnel for the successful operation and commended the officers and crew of HUNAIN and YARMOOK for their professionalism and vigilance.

The president appreciated the Navy’s role in preventing illegal activities in maritime areas and safeguarding maritime security.

“Pakistan Navy is playing a valuable role in protecting the country’s maritime boundaries and sea routes,” President Zardari said, according to the President’s Office.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and security and combating illicit activities.
