4.79m tokens redeemed: Fuel relief scheme registration reaches 5.9m mark
ISLAMABAD: More than 5.9 million citizens have been registered under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme, with over 4.79 million fuel relief tokens successfully redeemed across Pakistan, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said on Friday.
Addressing a joint press briefing alongside Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, the minister said a total of 6,189,568 fuel relief tokens had been generated since the scheme’s launch, of which 4,797,734 had been redeemed.
She said the initiative was designed to provide direct and targeted relief to citizens affected by rising fuel prices amid volatility in global oil markets resulting from regional tensions in the Middle East.
The scheme covers eligible two- and three-wheelers, including motorcycles, Qingqi vehicles and rickshaws, as well as cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc.
Displaying a live dashboard, the minister shared province- and region-wise figures for redeemed fuel relief tokens.
According to the data, Punjab recorded the highest number of redemptions at 3,076,185, followed by Sindh with 1,216,266 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 267,460.
Islamabad Capital Territory recorded 210,032 redemptions, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 23,796, Balochistan 6,761 and Gilgit-Baltistan 4,845.
Shaza Fatima said the figures reflected the nationwide outreach of the scheme, with eligible citizens benefiting from fuel relief across all provinces and regions.
She maintained that the initiative had been developed through a transparent and technology-enabled mechanism to ensure that relief reached eligible citizens efficiently.
The minister further informed that a 24/7 control room had been established at the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication to monitor the scheme’s implementation nationwide.
The control room oversees the entire process, from registration and token generation to redemption, while ensuring transparency and timely resolution of complaints.
She advised citizens facing difficulties with the scheme to contact the dedicated helpline at 9771 or visit pmfuelrelief.pk for information and assistance.
