Security forces have killed 19 Indian-sponsored terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan, while a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
According to the ISPR, security forces have been conducting a clearance operation in the Shaban area of Quetta district since September 21, following intelligence reports about multiple hideouts of terrorists.
During the operation, troops engaged and cleared multiple terrorist hideouts after intense exchanges of fire, killing 13 terrorists.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the cleared hideouts, the military’s media wing said, adding that the clearance operation would continue until the complete neutralisation of the threat in the area.
In separate engagements on September 22 and 23, security forces conducted pre-emptive intelligence-based operations in Kech district and Quetta West.
During the operations, six terrorists were killed following intense exchanges of fire, while weapons and ammunition were recovered, according to the ISPR.
During the exchange of fire, Subedar Muhammad Jamil, 39, a resident of Taunsa Sharif in Dera Ghazi Khan district, was killed in the line of duty and embraced martyrdom.
The ISPR said the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace.
“Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies remain committed to eliminating the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it added.
