Sharjeel assails MQM leadership for using ‘objectionable’ language
KARACHI: Sindh’s Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the language being used by the MQM leadership is intolerable. He remarked that the MQM seeks to incite discord and chaos, reverting to the politics of the 1990s, but vowed that their conspiracy would be thwarted.
In a statement responding to a press conference held by MQM leaders, he observed that Mustafa Kamal and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui are following the political path of the 1990s. He noted that it was the MQM that introduced the politics of extortion, bodies found in sacks, kidnapping for ransom, and arson in Karachi.
Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the Sindh Assembly has already delivered its verdict regarding the issue of provinces through a formal resolution. He accused the MQM of sowing the seeds of hatred by stoking discord and strife, noting that the majority of Urdu speakers identify as Sindhis.
He said that the MQM is once again fanning the flames of division and hatred along linguistic lines. He remarked that the MQM, which labels the government “artificial,” should first prove its own mandate. He added that people laugh whenever the MQM speaks of a mandate, as everyone is aware of the party’s true level of support. Had the MQM truly commanded a majority, he said, it would not have shied away from the local government elections.
